Otitis Infection

Otosporin is produced by GSK, which contains polymyxin + Neomycin + Hydrocortisone. It is being used for the indication and treatment of bacterial otitis externa and inflamed infected ear. It also helps in wide range of bacterial pathogens like gram positive and gram negative organisms.


Patients in whom perforation of the tympanic membrane is known or suspected. Due to known ototoxic and nephrotoxic potential of neomycin sulphate, the use of NPH ear drops in large quantities or on large area for prolonged periods of time is not recommended in circumstances where significant systemic absorption may occur. Allergic hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation or to cross-sensitizing substances and other related antibiotics. In the presence of untreated herpes simplex, herpes zoster and fungal infection.

Warning and Precautions

As with other combined antibacterial/corticosteroid preparations, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms, including fungi. Hydrocortisone may mask the allergic effects produced by any components of Otosprin ear drops.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Not recommended for pregnant women and lactation mother

Adverse Effects

Allergic hypersensitivity, stinging and burning have occasionally been reported when Otosporin Gained access to middle ear.
